How PonyBuy handles a haul, and when another agent fits better
PonyBuy is a shopping agent. You give it a link to something on a Chinese marketplace, it buys the item on your behalf, receives it at its own warehouse, inspects and photographs it, holds it, and ships it internationally when you say so.
Every agent in this category does that. What follows is what is specific to PonyBuy on the shipping side, and then an honest note on when to use somebody else.
The part every agent does the same way
If you have used one of these before, none of this will be new. It is here so the next section can be about differences rather than basics.
You submit a link, they buy it
The seller is a third party on Taobao, Tmall or 1688. The agent is a buyer acting for you, not the merchant.
It arrives at their warehouse and is inspected
Appearance level checks, with photographs, and storage until you decide.

Why PonyBuy, and what it does differently
Four things we could verify in its own documentation, with what each one means in practice.
The consolidation arithmetic is published, with an example
Rather than saying combining is cheaper, PonyBuy shows a rate structure and three weights and does the sum. That is unusually specific, and it is what makes an independent calculator possible at all. One line of the sum has a slip in it, which we cover on the home page.
A refund rule with a threshold and a deadline
Overpaid freight goes back to your account balance within 72 hours of dispatch, provided the overpayment exceeds one continued weight step. Both the condition and the window are written down.
Rehearsal packing at a published price
Twenty RMB to have the parcel packed and weighed before you commit. It is the only mechanism we found that turns the estimate into a measurement in advance.
Ninety days of free storage, then a narrow extension
Ninety days is generous. The paid extension is narrower than it sounds: it applies only to items already stored between day 60 and day 90, so it is a decision you have to make inside a thirty day window rather than whenever you want.
When you should use something else
Three situations where this guide would send you elsewhere.
You want the item verified working, not just looking right. PonyBuy inspects appearance and does not power on electronics or open sealed accessory boxes. If that is the risk you care about, you want an agent that offers functional testing, or you want to buy the category locally.
You are sending one small light thing, once. The entire advantage described on this site is about consolidation. A single 300 g parcel does not benefit from any of it, and agent choice comes down to whichever has the cheapest route to your country that week.
You need a guaranteed landing cost. Nobody in this category offers that. Deposits are estimates, final weight is measured after packing, and duties are assessed by your own customs. If a fixed number matters more than the saving, buy domestically.
How to judge an agent before you trust it with money
An agent holds your money, your goods and your address for weeks at a stretch, and by the time anything goes wrong you have already handed over all three. So the judgement has to happen at the start, from public pages, before an account exists. These are the six checks we would run on any agent in this category.
The right-hand column is where PonyBuy came out when we ran them. It is not a clean sweep, and a clean sweep would be the thing to distrust.

Where the risk sits, in their own words
PonyBuy is direct about this and it is worth quoting the shape of it rather than paraphrasing softly. Some products carry customs risk, including a small probability of return, fines or taxes, and that risk is borne by the recipient. If clearance cannot be completed for reasons on your side, any resulting fines, return fees and destruction fees are yours.
The listing pages carry a separate disclaimer: goods come from third party shopping platforms, are not sold by PonyBuy directly, and PonyBuy does not take responsibility for intellectual property or copyright infringement issues. Using the agent service is taken as accepting that.
None of that is unusual for the category. It is written down here, which is better than the alternative.
Questions about the agent rather than the parcel

Is PonyBuy the seller?
No. The goods come from third party marketplaces and PonyBuy buys them for you. Its own listing disclaimer says so, and it also says it does not accept responsibility for intellectual property issues on those goods.
Can I talk to a person during the purchase?
Yes. Order enquiry reaches the buying team during purchasing, and where they need information from you they contact you by email or internal message. The warehouse value added services are notified the same way.
Does 1688 work the same as Taobao here?
Not entirely. PonyBuy states that goods from 1688 are subject to a different inspection standard. If a haul mixes sources, that is worth knowing before you combine them into one parcel.
